I've not seen miniature hybrid musk sprays like this...I keep hoping it will grow some.
My Sunshine...right up my alley!
4th bloom on this. Should be fairly close to having its full number of petals. I'll be photographing this a lot the next few days.

First Hips of the Season!

The one on the left is a Carefree Beauty seedling x Valentines Day Florist rose. First cross of the season, it had five months to ripen. The one on the right is a Midas Touch (x KO?)- immature (I'm blaming the neighbors dogs). I was told Midas Touch doesn't work well as a seed parent. We'll see, I have three or four exceptionally large hips on it.

Two pictures of Midas Touch. She has nice fragrance as well.

KO seedling foliage, again. This is what I want to put into my yellows eventually.

Petal Shapes

This is one of the valentines day florist roses I rooted. Notice the petals flute in a 'V' (to give the bud exhibition style shape).

'Pink Peace' which I just purchased for $5.00 at Kmart yesterday. The petals are just mostly rounded and not very defined. Because of its fragrance I was thinking of using it to cross against my Carefree Beauty seedling below.
The petals are mostly dimpled.

But this has to be one of the better petal shapes which I will have to end up eventually incorporating into above.

24jul

That Carefree Beauty seedling does still exist. It has the distinction of going down as my most vigorous seedling to date (4' tall first season). See how the color differs from the Hot Cocoa seedling below it.

Just cuz I can.

Green moth.

I do like its habit and disease resistance:)
Managed to catch its bud form.
"Chinese red" does indeed describe its color well.

Aquarium Rooting.

I usually start out in rain water. I might change it out once or twice...but as soon as you see algae develop plant in river sand (with perhaps a small amount of dirt/organic material- but NOT too much peat).
Notice the garbage bag shade cloth. After about 93 degrees nothing will help.
Callous is good. These need a little more time.
Once they develop even a few roots they can be placed out.

(these were my rooted valentines day roses bought on clearance.....). Oh. BTW. A 25 watt pipe warmer wrapped around your pot will get you through winter, but I'm not responsible for code violations involving water and extension cords.
This will work for most all roses. Only a few want to be difficult...with those I'm using air layering. One day I would love to have a well and misting system.
